Belt gradings are a formal milestone in every student’s Soo Bahk Do journey — a chance to demonstrate everything learned since the last test in front of our senior instructors. Candidates are graded on technique, forms (hyung), one-steps and attitude appropriate to their current rank.
You don’t need to be testing to come along — watching a grading is a great way to see what’s ahead, and the whole school turns out to support each other.
- Wear a clean, complete uniform (dobok)
- Arrive 15 minutes early to warm up
- Bring water — it’s a longer session than a normal class
- Not testing? Come and cheer your classmates on
